St, George’s Park is set in 250 acres of outstanding natural beauty. Grounds include a well-stocked fishing lake with fresh water fish, wildfowl inhabiting the lakes and surrounding areas, extensive footpath network within the estate, woodlands featuring bluebells in spring and rare protected orchids in the lawns, and two designated sites of Special Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI).

Six fire crews were called to a fire which broke out in a 20 metre by 30 metre agricultural barn at St George’s Park Farm, in Ditchling Road, Burgess Hill, just before 7pm on 13 September 2017. A spokesman for the fire service said 400 square bales, 500 silage bales and 100 hay bales had caught fire. The agricultural barn was badly damaged. No injuries to humans and horses in adjacent paddocks was reported.

Dorton Demolition were awarded the contract to demolish all remaining structures, carry out an environmental clean to surrounding fields and paddocks, removing asbestos cement fragments, and all remaining contaminated silage bales from. The affected agricultural large building was clad entirely in asbestos cement corrugated sheeting. All structures were demolished mechanically in a controlled manner with all materials separated into their perspective groups, loaded into suitable containers/ skips and transported off site to be disposed at licensed tipping and recycling facilities.

The project was completed on time with no incidents or injuries recorded.
